First off I must confess was already a fan of the Jason Bourne series before the release of this particular installment and my affinity for the no holds barred, bare knuckle, adrenaline pumping action has only been further solidified.
Honestly, I liked The Bourne Identity best, and no offense to Paul Greengrass, but the handheld cinematography was just a bit overdone in the last two go ’rounds. I’m all for raw realism and making the audience feel every pounding heartbeat as the assassin draws inevitably closer, but don’t want to make them dizzy in the process.
All in all the movie was great, and definitely worth the $9.25 ticket to see it in theaters. Am also thankful the director/producer had the foresight to leave the ending open while maintaining some sense of closure. For those of you unaware, the Bourne series actually contains 5 books:
The Bourne Identity
The Bourne Supremacy
The Bourne Ultimatum
The Bourne Legacy
The Bourne Betrayal
Not for nothing, but I’m looking forward to actually reading these books. Robert Ludlum wrote the first and the series was revived in the final two sequels by Eric Van Lustbader.
